Job Title: Skilled Laborer

Position

As a Skilled Laborer, you must be able to work with various Project Managers and Site Leads to complete work quickly, safely, and to the exact specifications of the client and GEBM Project Manager. GEBM Skilled Laborers are expected to be able and willingly to travel to work sites as needed, for as long as needed, to work at client work sites around the U.S.

A qualified Skilled Laborer should possess an eye for detail and the ability to read blueprints and layouts. Skilled Laborer are expected to be proficient and comfortable using a tape measure, hand tools, and power tools. Skilled Laborers must maintain a clean, professional work area while working in a live construction site. Team members are also expected to keep track of inventory and escalate missing parts to the appropriate contact immediately.

Additionally, Skilled Laborers are expected to follow directions, communicate with team members and be an active listener. Each day of work is made of completing all daily task logs, tool sign in-out sheets, and other assigned paperwork.


Minimum required qualifications:
  • MUST have two years of construction/warehouse experience
  • MUST be able to work continuously for long hours, being on your feet for 8-12 hours a day
  • MUST have basic, elementary-level math skills
  • MUST be experienced working with Microsoft programs
  • MUST be a self-managed team player, able to deliver results with minimal supervision
  • MUST be able to show legal employment status in the United States
  • MUST have dependable transportation and a valid drivers’ license
  • MUST hold a high school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active industry certifications for OSHA 10, AWP and warehouse/industrial forklift operation are preferred

The Location

Travel is required. Work sites are out-of-state and at the request of our clients. Site Leads should expect to be away from home for between six (6) weeks to three (3) months at a time. GEBM covers all travel costs (flights, lodging and rental cars).

Team members should expect to be scheduled for work as per client/customer needs. This may include work weeks more than forty (40) hours, weekend and/or overnight shifts.


Compensation and Payroll Schedule

The Skilled Laborer is an hourly non-exempt position. GEBM operates on a weekly pay schedule and adheres to all local and federal tax policies. Team members are also eligible for a per diem when located at on-site (away from home) projects.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to bend, crawl, sit, talk, move about, hear and speak. They may be required to work in restricted spaces and/or under difficult lighting and access conditions. Noise levels may be high when operating power equipment. Employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions when transporting materials. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to sixty (60) pounds and be able to use appropriate support equipment to lift and move greater amounts. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Employee is required to use properly use such safety equipment as is appropriate to the work to prevent injury to self or others.
