Position
We are seeking a skilled and professional-minded individual who welcomes opportunities to work individually and as part of a team. As a Project Manager In Training (PMIT), you will participate in active training to earn a promotion to a Project Manager.
GEBM PMITs must be able to manage and direct a team of GEBM Senior Team Leads and/or Team Leads and local temporary workers to meet the objectives of the GEBM Project Manager and client. A PMIT is expected to follow the directions of GEBM Project Managers, Regional Project Managers and members of our executive team to exhibit our company values and master our company processes.
Job Responsibilities
Below is a list of primary responsibilities a Project Manager In Training would expect in their day-to-day. It is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without advanced notice.
- Company and brand ambassador: GEBM PMITs are the primary bridge between the GEBM warehouse crew, local temporary workers and client representatives. GEBM PMITs are responsible for all project teams under their command and takes on sole responsibility for the management of their teams to fulfill the vision and action plan of the GEBM Project Manager and the client. You should feel comfortable operating as root-cause analysis experts. PMITs should be a confident, patient leader and will receive coaching about scheduling, documentation and quality control standards and procedures.
- Expert Communicator and Planner:
A PMIT is expected to be constantly aware of all work in-progress and be able to relay information to the GEBM Project Manager or client representative at any given time of the day. This will require proficiency using available labor tracking tools, as well as an ability to communicate with many stakeholders through various mediums. The ideal candidate will learn and comply to GEBM operating procedures and best practices for all types of work, including but not limited to administrative/computer and inventory procedures/procedures.
- Proactive problem solving and escalation:
A qualified PMIT should possess existing skills in personnel dispute and conflict resolution. You can expect to learn and adapt to GEBM’s process for documentation and escalation. GEBM management is expected to apply a proactive approach in routinely tracking the project progress against their project scope and commitments to drive problem-solving and resolutions.
Are you who we are looking for?
Qualified applicants should hold the following:
- 5+ years of experience in warehouse or construction
- Previous experience managing and leading construction crews a plus
- Working knowledge of computer software such as Microsoft Office products and SharePoint
- Active industry certifications for OSHA 10, OSHA 30, AWP and/or warehouse/industrial forklift operation
- Ability to provide a credit report and a clean Dept. of Motor Vehicles Driving Record report upon receipt of a GEBM-provided offer letter
- A strong willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced, immersive warehouse environment
- High school degree or equivalent
The Location
Travel is required. Work sites are out-of-state and at the request of our clients. Project Managers In Training should expect to be away from home for up to three (3) months at a time. GEBM covers all travel costs (flights, lodging and rental cars).
Team members should expect to be scheduled for work as per client/customer needs. This may include work weeks more than forty (40) hours, weekend and/or overnight shifts.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to bend, crawl, sit, talk, move about, hear and speak. They may be required to work in restricted spaces and/or under difficult lighting and access conditions. Noise levels may be high when operating power equipment. Employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions when transporting materials. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to sixty (60) pounds and be able to use appropriate support equipment to lift and move greater amounts. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Employee is required to use properly use such safety equipment as is appropriate to the work to prevent injury to self or others.
Compensation and Payroll Schedule
Project Managers In Training are a salary, exempt position. You will remain salary exempt upon successful completion of the PMIT program and promotion to Project Manager. If you are not identified as having successfully completed this program you may be offered a position as a Site Lead. The Site Lead position is an hourly, non-exempt position with comparable pay.
GEBM operates on a weekly pay schedule and adheres to all local and federal tax policies. Team members are also eligible for per diem when away from home for work.

Project Manager Job Description
- Responsibility and accountability:
Create a project plan using best practice PMO methodology to deliver within budget and achieve the client’s desired outcomes. You will be fully accountable for the result of the project, and acts as the driver that holds the project together. The PM leads the project with passion, as if it was his or her own business, and conducts quality control checks for all tasks in projects. They will routinely be expected to manage multiple smaller projects in a focused trade area.
- Project tracking across various mediums: Prepare, maintain and submit clear and concise activity/progress reports and time recording/management reports. The PM should inform all stakeholders of project milestones, regular status updates, as well as manage escalation and change control processes. Additionally, the PM must complete all required paperwork (receipts, timesheets, expenses, etc.) for all teams assigned to you on a daily basis. They must have core computer knowledge and a willingness and ability to master software and hardware that GEBM uses for admin/inventory procedures.
- Building relationships: The PM serves as a role model and GEBM ambassador in promoting good working relationships across a project. The PM exhibits the people skills needed to develop trust and communication among project stakeholders. They are also responsible for tracking the growth and development of GEBM personnel under your supervision, helping team members create and follow their personal growth plans.
- Proactive problem solving: The PM applies a proactive approach in routinely tracking the project progress against their project scope and commitments to drive problem-solving and resolutions.
- 5+ years of experience in construction and previous experience managing construction crews
- Associate degree or higher in Construction Management, Construction Science, Business Administration or a related industry
- Active industry certifications for OSHA 10 or OSHA 30, AWP and warehouse/industrial forklift operation
- Advanced leadership, situational problem-solving, communication and administrative/computer skills
